While I would prefer running Windows 10 virtually using Parallels Desktop (and be able to jump between macOS and Windows seamlessly), my 12-inch MacBook is far under-powered to run the virtual machine. Since the introduction of Boot Camp, I’ve only used it twice … once on an iMac to run Windows XP Pro and currently on a 12-inch MacBook running Windows 10 Pro. Through Boot Camp, you can harness the power of your Mac hardware to run Windows 10 fairly well especially in cases where your Mac hardware might be older and lack the power to run a Windows 10 VM well using virtualization software like Parallels Desktop or VMware Fusion. ![]() If you need to run Windows 10 on an Intel-based Mac, Boot Camp is still a viable option.
